Electrification procurement: compare the cost of the service, not just the equipment

Source summary · 22 September 2026 IEA’s Electrification report examines affordability and efficiency across end uses. INNOFLOW perspective A quotation for an electrification project is easier to assess when competing options deliver the same service. Define the required output and operating hours first: for example, a stated heating duty or production task. Then ask suppliers to explain the assumptions behind their proposals. Build a comparable cost sheet Separate the equipment price from installation, connection changes, controls, maintenance and expected energy use. Record the tariff, assessment period and operating conditions beside each estimate. Ask the project team to identify which figures are measured, estimated or still awaiting confirmation. Before placing an order Compare a baseline case with a case using different operating hours or electricity prices. Identify any change that would reverse the purchasing decision. This is INNOFLOW’s procurement commentary, not an IEA product recommendation or a promise of savings from a particular INNOFLOW model.
