IEA’s Kenya assessment identifies flooding, landslides and heat as risks to electricity infrastructure and reliable supply.
INNOFLOW perspective
For electrical project teams, this is a reason to document the installation environment before comparing quotations. A national assessment helps frame questions; it does not determine the conditions at an individual site.
Before ordering
Ask the project engineer to confirm local flood exposure, equipment location, drainage and maintenance access. Record the expected ambient temperature and ask suppliers for the operating limits and any applicable derating information for the exact model and installation arrangement.
Keep evidence with the quotation
Identify which site assumptions have been checked and which still need a survey. Assign responsibility for enclosure selection, cable entries and the complete installed assembly. A component specification alone is not evidence that the whole installation is suitable for flooding or extreme heat. Final selection should follow site-specific engineering and applicable local requirements.
